If you’re looking to purchase new windows for the house, you may notice that they coming with an energy label. What are these energy labels for you ask? The point of the label is to inform others of the energy efficiency. The windows are rated by national bodies, with the British Fenestration Rating Council being the body in the UK.

So how do the energy labels translate? Well it’s pretty simple really. Rated from A – G, an ‘A’ rating means that the windows are the most energy efficient, with a ‘G’ rating meaning the window on offer is the least efficient available. Another quick tip, the lowest rating a window in an eco-home can have is a ‘C’. The Energy Saving Trust claims that a window with a ‘C’ rating has a payback of approximately 6 years.
